    Jiu jitsu in the olympics?

Why is there no jiu jitsu or no gi grappling in the olympics? Is anyone pushing or lobbying to get it in?

even though I hate the olympics, it would still be cool to have jiu jitsu in it..

It would be very cool to see gi, sub wrestling or even some form of pankration/MMA in the olympics.

There's judo for gi grappling and freestyle and greco for no-gi grappling. I'm sure plenty of people are lobbying for all kinds of sports, including BJJ, but the Olympics are bloated as is, and there's little chance of adding more disciplines to a field that no one* watches anyways.

Olympics would just ruin it, they'd probably make rules that "submit" people even before any lock is close to being applied or anyone taps. I mean, look at the boxing, they give standing 8 counts if any punch lands solid.

because average joe doesnt want to watch two guys rolling about on the ground wrapping their legs around each other. Judo at least has exciting throws etc, and wrestling is big in america. BJJ wouldnt appeal to anyone but a minority.

I know that there is talk of getting BJJ in the Olympics but I personally don't think it needs to be their. The olympic commitee would never accept BJJ played like it is now. They are looking for SAFE sports that pple enjoy. Except for wrestling all the combative sports have been watered down (Boxing, TKD (shut up), Judo) A sport were it is VERY likely to be choked unconcious (2 pple got choked out at last weekends Europ championship), limbs damaged (Jacare at last years Mundials) are not going to appeal to them.

And TKD looks "amazing" with all of the flashy kicks.

Then again, curling is a big draw for the winter olympics and I honestly cant stand watching 2 minutes of it.
