Richard Lee aka Richard Cuvelier and East West bok fu do

If anyone has any information on the "grandmaster" of modern bok fu, or his school, East West, or any information on any of his former students (or their former students), and they schools they may have started as well, I would greatly appreciate a private message.

His kenpo training (judan) is traceable, but the history of his school, and his students and their schools, is kept under tight wraps.

If any bullshido members have any information, or have been involved with BFD, I would be in deep gratitude.

It is a closely guarded secret, don't ask again.........................in fact no one by that name exists........don't ask again...........there is no bok fo do ............forget you heard the name........

Very curious myself.....why would richard lee, one of the greatest american gmasters have a false name and why can't we the public look up his family tree?

The system of Bok-Fu-Do (White Tiger) was founded by Grand Master Richard Lee in 1967. Its roots can be traced back as far as 2500 years to the beginning of Chinese Martial Arts. Bok-Fu-Do encompasses the most effective and devastating methods of self-defense known to man. Grand Master Lee has probably done more traveling in his research of the various martial arts styles than anybody in the history of martial arts in America.

Can't explain the shroud of secrecy, but Rich Lee is very connected in China, all the way to the top of the government. This could explain some of the secrecy, not sure. Why not just give him a call at his school out in Calfiornia and ask him for more information? Or visit him if you're nearby. It would be interesting to know more.

Also, my understanding is he adopted the Lee name out of respect to his Chinese teachers. Something else to ask him about.

Richard lee is only one of three 10 degree ( Judan ) in the Tracy Chinese kenpo system.

Located on the Tracy Kenpo Web page. Tracy lineage listed , (Mitose, Hoon Chow,) to William Chow, to Ed Parker, to Al Tracy, and then Richard Lee.

This is an old thread and Beka actually ended up coming to one of our demonstrations. There's a lot of information on our website regarding Bok Fu Do and the martial arts history of GM Richard Lee. A link may be best because the writings are pretty lengthy.

If you are interested in any of it and want it posted here, I'd be happy to do that.
