The BMI is getting replaced as a screening tool for obesity as well.
(keep in mind that it always was a screening tool for the run-of-the mill patient who walks into the doctors' . It is of course useles for all these fine-tuned athletes who hang around bullshido.com. I have a BMI of 32 and I'm not fat...)
It is also used for population studies and icreases in average BMIs still reflect very well, what's wrong with today's society.
The screening tool which becomes more and more interesting is the hip girdle width, which apparantly corresponds well with your fat percentage.
( Screening has to be cheap and quick )
The scales which use electrical current aren't too bad . If you always use the same one. It might not be super accurate in determining the real percentage, but it should be accurate with the changes you undergo when dieting.
