Another network will pick it up. As to your second point, how does the failure of pro wrestling benefit MMA competitions?

Fake violence steals the thunder of REAL violence.

Personally, I have a SERIOUS problem with the potrayal of massively violent moves without depicting the inevitable consequences. Gory blood and busted faces does NOT glorify violence. It suppresses it.

Boxing is widely popular in spite of pro wrestling. That invalidates your theory.

Holy [dirty word], that is awesome because I hate UPN! I hate them because my cable company doesn't carry them so I never get to watch the Torrie Wilson show.. er, Smackdown. I hate that I have to wait a year but finally I will be reunited with my one true television love. *sigh* :)

The article doesn't say this is the last year of Smackdown. It does say:

There's only one year left on the contract for World Wrestling Entertainment's "Smackdown!" but the network has not yet decided what its future will be.

"It still makes us a decent amount of money," says Leslie Moonves, co-president and co-chief operating office for Viacom, which owns both CBS and UPN. "When you think about the powerhouses of CBS and NBC on Thursday night, it's great counter-programming. (But) it doesn't fit into the overall (programming) strategy."
In the end money will win out. Smackdown will stay on.

"Doesn't fit into the overall programming strat" = not "urban" enough for UPN.

I love how wrestling is going down and down hill. It's an almost magical level of purience that manages to cater to nearly every base impulse present in the human soul at once. Perfect TV.

Did i state last year! No, I sad that they have one year on their contract, renewal is not possible.

Tell me this, where in the hell is Smackdown supposed to go?

Ted Turner has Vince's number, so that rules out anything Turner related; TNT, TBS ect.

This is good for MMA, because Pro Wrestling is MMA's competition. There are a lot of fools out here who believe MMA and pro wrestling is one of the same. So once pro wrestling fades into oblivion all the confusion will subside and everyone will concentrate on real fighting.

Really? How do you explain the fact that Pro Wrestling in Japan (Puroresu) is hugely more popular and respected over there than it is in North America. Yet, it's Japan that also enjoys a more popular MMA fanbase over there.
