Columbia police said the deceased man found Saturday night inside Dexter’s International Taekwon-Do and Martial Arts Training Center, 1310 Grand Ave., shot himself in an apparent suicide.
Paul D. Dexter, 39, was found at 9 p.m. when officers responded to a report of a disturbance. Police made the determination of suicide based on follow-up interviews with those who know him, Capt. Mike Martin said.

Published SundayColumbia police were conducting a death investigation last night after the discovery about 9 p.m. of a body inside a martial arts training center in north Columbia. Officers responded to a report of a disturbance and discovered the body of a man at Dexter’s International Taekwon-Do and Martial Arts Training Center, 1310 Grand Ave., Sgt. Ken Hammond said.
By 9:20 last night, police had cordoned off the facility’s parking lot, but few details about the incident were available. According to its Web site, the center is owned by Paul Dexter, and its last class on Saturdays ends at 3:30 p.m.
