ITT we complain about the fluster cuck that is grappling terminology
This thread serves no higher purpose than to allow Yrkoon9 and omega somewhere to complain about grappling terminology.
Judo, BJJ, catch, yoga and others all war for the copyrights to desribing how two men hold each other.
Personally, I go by what sounds coolest.
Here are just a few of cluster fucks I can think of:guard = scissorsI have yet to see anything beat...
mount = saddle
side mount = side control = across-side
omoplata = shoulder coil = shoulder lock
rear naked choke = mata leao = sleeper holdudi garami = kimura = key lock = chicken wing = hammer lock = americana = double wrist lockI hardly even attempted finding out the Japanese terms, since I'm lazy.
The most pressing question from all of this is why does catch use such dumb names?

hay these werds r kind a hotNormally, I'd say I was grappling, but I was taking down and mounting people, and JFS has kindly informed us that takedowns and being mounted are neither grappling nor anti grappling, so I'm not sure what the **** I was doing. Maybe schroedinger's sparring, where it's neither grappling nor anti-grappling until somoene observes it and collapses the waveform, and then I RNC a cat to death.----fatherdog

This one's for Yrkoon:
double leg = suplex

At my school we call that one the 'biped'.
The suplex is called something completely different.

Some people call this a suplex. Lazy roundeyes mostly.
The correct terminology is the "double kimura inverted reverse ura nage." I suggest you all start refering to this technique as such.

I invented a counter to the omoplata which I have named the romoplata. I've already worked out a reverse romoplata.

A counter to the Omoplata is.... the Omoplata...
