    Hello Everyone,

Odd_Lifter- Sayoc Kali is just one portion of training within the Sayoc Fighting System. Empty hand, stick etc. are also components of what practitioners learn. Tuhon Sayoc, had decided to focus on the blade aspect for the last several years as almost all FMA's had begun to neglect that particular aspect of their training curriculum. There is a short clip up at www.sayocfightingsystems.com that shows some recent training at an Instructor camp.

It will also give you a view that Sayoc practitioners are not obese or out of shape! There are also a few exercise clips up at www.Bujinkandojo.net with many more coming!

yes they look pretty fit to me, in all seriousness though, how can you practice martial arts intensely while being as fat as the head instructors are? (I'm not going to use sugar coat terms, sorry)
I know quite a few fanatical pracitioners of various silat, kali, eskrima and arnis systems and they all tell me being in shape is so important that it is the most important reason why they cross train in arts like muay thai and spend much time on physical conditioning. While Dan Inosanto may say he rates sayoc a perfect ten, he stresses his kali and silat instructors must be in decent shape, that's why they have to train muay thai with chai.

    Hello Odd_Lifter,

Although you would think that various instructors in Sayoc Kali are out of shape, that would show that you have not met them in a face to face manner. For example Tuhon Kier would seem to be rather large, yet he is incredibly strong, fast and agile.

Go and meet these people and see if they are truely what you say, I think you may come back with a different opinion.

yeah, looks can deveive, I saw shane hamman (no martial artist, but I'm sure you know him) train in real life and talked to him, he was amazingly fast, that's for sure. he is one of those who you need to see in person to appreciate the body composition (being so overwhelmed by the muscle and bone mass you don't think they are fat anymore). if the sayoc instructors are hardcore lifters (or posssibly freaks of nature) that might just be the case.

well, I'll just stop doing this

I think this guy was at one of the Dog Bros. gatherings a couple of years ago. If this is the same guy, he was scary good with the stick. His stick skills were definitely top notch and he took several guys completely out relatively quickly. Not only did he have good stick work, but he was powerful beyond belief. He gave the Dog Bros. best fighter (Top Dog) a helluva fight and TD eventually blew his knee out after a takedown by the Sayoc guy. I'm pretty sure he finished off everyone he fought that day.

I've been fighting in the gatherings for about seven years now and this is the only guy I have ever been afraid to fight. BTW, I'm guessing he was close to 300 lbs.

Frankly, I don't see how this garbage is any different from the crap you get with traditional kung fu.

I thought this was interesting (sic), there was some yahoo endorsing the "Fat men with knives" system (better known as sayoc kali) named Michael Jaco, a
'Originator / Head Instructor for the Navy SEALs Combat Fighting Course.' He provided a link to his site and here's what I found -

What possible benefit does this have? I suppose these retards are training to become future POW's or terrorist hostages. Yes, and here you thought phil elmore was Bullshido's leading idiot...

Just how many RBSD idiots does it require to take down a lone sentry? Apparently, more than four (sic). Ooooh, be careful guys, that sentry is armed with a deadly plastic hockey stick.

    Hello Everyone,

Knifefighter - You are correct that is Tuhon Tom Kier who fought at the gathering.

Kungfoolss- You should meet Mr. Jaco, he is a wealth of material on teamwork, awareness, and getting people to push their envelope or comfort zone. Mr. Jaco continues to work heavily with members of the various SEAL teams, Elite combat forces and every day martial arts practitioners.

What Garbage are you speaking of?

aryu, I can only speak for myself, but I think most people here realize that tom kier is a bull, most are probably just joking ...

(why I think this: from what the picture tells me tom's elbow joints are about as big as most people's knee joints)

still he looks out of shape

the head instructor however looks FAR fatter and less muscled and in even worse shape, what's up with that? he is the guy who gets payed most...

...and he does this by playing paintball and walking blindfolded with a bunch of other idiots in pond? It's no wonder the terrostists think we can be beaten.
