Word. PDP is supposedly going to help teach class at the new Gracie Barra up here in Southern California (Marcio Feitosa and Carlinhos). I'm thinking about going up there to get viciously crossfaced and surfed on.

    LOL!
I wonder if he realises that he's the most hated man in BJJ?

I would have loved to have seen him training with Rigan. Apparently Rigan was just playing with PDP and repeatedly tapping him with his own version of the twister which is more of a bodylock type thing.

    Omega,
What's the superman pass? The guys at my club call a version of Toreander the superman pass. Can you please describe it?

Rigan's a fucking beast. He's tall and stocky. No neck either. Basically, he's a tank. Scary to think about.

Are you doing it from a closed guard or is the guard already open?

Oh, and when do they expect to get the vids back up?

Here's a video method that works great with no-gi.
    http://www.abhaya.ca/technique.htm
Go to Guard break - can opener or just use this link:
    http://www.abhaya.ca/video/guardbreak_canopener.wmv

Here's another method I like to use sometimes when I just can't get my opponent's legs open the normal way. It's sneaky, but a bit advanced and works well with both gi and no-gi:

Put your left hand on your opponent's right bicep.
Nail his arm to the floor.
Put your head on his chest, hips up and walk to your left so that you walk *over* his right arm.
Reach under his back and grab his right wrist with your right wrist.
Now put your left elbow on the floor next to the left side of his neck.
Walk around to your left, keeping control of his wrist and your left elbow on the floor with your hips *low*.
Eventually his legs should open up and you can slide past his guard.

Probably try the can-opener first. It is legal, as long as you don't tap your opponent with it. So you can use it to open his legs, but you have to let go once his legs are open or you can be disqualified.
    Perfect! Thanks JohnnyS.

I found myself holding the person on the back of the head quite a lot anyway, to control them, so I will try that one. I'll check the rules, I doubt neck cranks are allowed so I'll have to be careful with them.

I like this one. This will be done passing to your left.

    1. Hold guys arms down by grabbing his biceps palm down your fingers point to his head.
    2. Pop up to both feet (standing)
    3. Release hold with left hand and place that hand on his right knee pressing down.
    4. Simaltaneously step back 45 degrees with left leg while releasing right grip on his left bicep and pushing down on his right hip bone.

Key points. You must step back to give room for his guard to break and the leg to drop to the floor.
You are using two arms and your body weight to attack his right hip and right knee.

5.Once his right leg is pinned with both your left hand at his right knee and your right hand pinning his right hip. Drop your left knee to the floor pinning his right leg with your shinbone. Your left knee on one side your left foot (onyour toes) on the otherside of his right thigh.

    6. With your right arm scoop under his still raised left thigh (think wrasslin pin) and your left arm goes under his head to secure his upper body (like in side control).

7.Take your extended right leg and step back over your left (which is still pinning his right thigh) to clear it.

    8. Once you have cleared both legs, to complete the pass, hip switch placing your right knee in his right hip.

You now have 100 Kilos (side control)

Practice it. I know it seems complicated, but it can become your Bread and butter No-gi guard pass..
