That was pretty much how I figured it. I guess it would depend on the clothes you use, but that seems like it could probably use some weighing down. maybe some filled to the brim (tightly sealed) water bottles filled with either water or sand in the limbs?

Solo drills rule. I believe it is an awesome way to learn the language of movement.
And the coolest thing is your partner is at your beck and command, so your never waiting
Here are some basics:
Technical Stand-up (alternate sides and execute reps, reps, and more reps)
Square Drill
Shoulder Rolls
Escape the Hips (shrimping)
Circle your Feet
Switch your hips (belly down/belly up)
Head Stand (the basic)
And Apparatus training is sweet
Heavy Bag ( on the ground)
work head stand , knee through, belly up/belly down, and the run around guard passes to start
work all of the positions and transitions
The Swedish Exercise Ball
Oh man I love grappling with these things
take high mount with no parts on the floor and when you choose execute a step over
you can work so many movements and it really builds your attributes balance, sensativity, flow, timing, yielding, etc.
Understand that you may train these as basic movements only or you may certainly visualize scenarios (shadow train)
Mix it up and have a party. Also, when injured these drills are awesome. I have come back from long lay offs and have been told that I have improved upon my return to the matts.
Happy Training! Respect.
