I love a good Wing Chun thread.

First off, no good WC thread post is complete without mention of Bruce Lee:-

Bruce Lee decided that cross-training was the way forward, but I think he probably would've said that if he'd been studying Kyokushin. I don't think it's fair to claim that Bruce's leaving WC to cross-train is a damning critique of the system on it's own. He still used the bits he liked from WC.

However, I still haven't seen much success on the part of WC in competition with other styles. The notable exceptions always seem to involve people who've cross-trained extensively in grappling and/or a more competition oriented striking art. Not that there aren't pure WC people who could beat me senseless, there definitely are. I know a few personally. I just don't see pure WC practitioners owning kickboxers, grapplers etc.. nearly as often as they get owned.

I think Wing Chun has some good ideas, but I don't do it anymore.

    Just a question.

Does the person with 100 techniques always beat the guy with only 4? :clock:

Not always, but, being able to fight in as many situations and conditions as possible, never hurt anyone.

Also, its nice to have 100 techniques to choose your best ones from.

More complete how? It has more techniques, different strategies, etc?

Fighting is a fairly broad term. Don't you mean just barehanded fighting?

What exactly do you mean by aspects? There are a ton of things that could be called aspects of fighting.

JKD, covers the 3 ranges of combat ( striking, clinching and grappling).
Cover stand up and ground fighting.
    Covers blunt and edged weapons.
    In some cases even firearms.
The practise with contact and with a resisting partner.

Shall I go on or has the point been made ?

I am NOT even a practioner of JKD, but even I know this.
