I did it like a man (bent over and whining).
It went well. We started out slow which was good for me, and by the time I was tossed into front rolls I felt ok (first one pop'd the back). Did some pad work with a partner and I did lots of spinning back/side to get whole body movement. Back hurt less after getting sweaty, and after class I asked Shihan to crack my hurting neck CRACK! OOH! Then I got home and drank some health juice, cabernet sauvignon.

As was said, if it's soreness, tough it out. If it's tender to the touch or is fatigued to the point where hours after you're done working out, it still feels weak, that's the body saying to rest.
But as punchingdummy said, toughness is an attribute that's cultivated by training beyond others.
