My current opinions on wing chun

you do not want to be standing there ... a close in lead hook means you are standing in the wrong place but it also means he is transfering weight onto his rear leg thus you can place your rear leg "behind" your rear leg and kick him as you move out of range of the punch .. you should do this keyed just by being in this relative position rather than being aware of the punch (difficult)

he committed to bringing his rear leg forward as he was partially off-sided if he had been aware of his position he could have placed his front leg behind a grounded rear leg and kicked his opponent straight down the middle (groin?) as the opponent committed to the strike

All these WC practioners: has anyone attended a Throwdown? A lot of what I've been reading is still theory. Has anyone ever pulled off a "trap" in a Throwdown? Or, for that matter, any WC techniques? Video please.

Why is it the only threads that habitually get this long are either about wing chun or forum drama?

Answer: Both kinds of threads consist of people desperately seeking acceptance / attention / recognition / retribution / validation for what is usually a huge waste of time.

You can avoid the thread really easily.

if the nature of internet forums is an issue rather than the bullshit on it then I feel I must add the opposition to the thread is often a device for gaining recognition off peers by being anti WC... which I must agree given the state of WC is not difficult.

if you want a cheap sense of belonging being anti this or that is a sure fire way of gaining that sense of security... thats bollux as well if you have no decent grounds for such a stance..

posting that WC has never delivered on video is a GOOD point but that in itself does not invalidate the thread which has turned into a discussion about why WC is ****..

even if you think/know it is crap saying why illuminates the realities it fails to address and quite possibly sheds light on fighting in general

I don't see an reason to stop this thread at all.
