I managed to find the other body weight training thread. Im getting info from that as well.

    How much do you weight?
Put that on a Barbell and try to bench press that weight for as many reps as you can do push ups.

Yay. As a vaulter-gymnast/dancer-type-thingee, I'm all about BWE's, for the most part.

IMO, it is more practical to have greater endurance, than to be able to do something spectacular once or twice, and then be useless. Bucking hay, or longing snotty yearlings, for example.

    Yay for me.

Anywho, with all my stuff, my coach has always wanted us to continue calisthenics outside of class/practice every day, and even more often as it gets closer to and deeper into competition season. I get perfectly peachy results from my BWE's, but two days are very rarely the same. The book "Stretch and Strength for vaulters and riders" by some German lady is where a lot of my ideas come from. Basically, though, I've never been told by any educated coach or trainer to do less than every day or more of hardcore calisthenics.

Can: Thanks for your input, Ill check that book out.

Ronin: I see where you are getting at. And if I try to do 25 bench presses at 180pds I will undoubtably fail. The gym guy benching 400 EXPECTS to be able to do many bodyweight pushups but can only do 40 because of low muscular endurance. To be fair, I wouldnt have the 250 pushup guy attempt to do 250 bench presses of his own weight, but 8 maximum repetitions at a high weight.
Thats what Im looking to see. I guess I can find out myself in a few months or so.

Now, the simple fact that you can do 50 push-ups rather than 10, means you are "Stronger", but it also means you have more muscular endurance,
    Hallelujah.

I used to be big on the Combat Conditioning thing too..... but I stopped it after a while. It just didn't give consistent gains after the first couple months.

Even with one legged squats, one armed pushups, and headstand pushups? What was your routine when you stopped?
