That isn't specific enough to be correct.
It really is moot, we're all just being particular.

Isometric contractions are used for that reason. It focuses on strengthening and isolation of a specific muscle. It doesn't make your core lift any stronger though as it doesn't help strengthen the stabilizing muscles and tendons associated with core lifts.
