Eh, he tried to force me off by pushing on that pressure point behind the ear. (and hair pulling...of all things)

I was expecting it to be a blood choke, but I assume through my suckage it was actually a wind choke. My head was getting banged into a wall fairly forcefully so I can't remember so well I must admit. ;)

It did make him tap after what seemed like 15-20 seconds, most people tap a little sooner so I was fairly surprised that he held out so long and figure I probably fucked up somewhere.

PS: Yes my elbow joint was at the front of his throat with the forearm to the side.

Which can work, but not very reliably from what I understand.

Some people choke out easier that others. I choked out one of my friends with a guillotine in about 3, just because he has this thing where he gets choked out easily. Maybe your friend just takes longer.

Besides, 15 seconds is the normal upper range for a RNC to work.

If you arch with hooks in, I think that wouldn't be a problem?

I was also taught to take a huge breath in while squeezing, to expand the chest.

Just to add to the correctness on this thread-
    elbow under chin...
I like to put my free hand on the back of my own head to get closer to opponents head (good leverage this way) or on my opposite shoulder-I was taught not to push on opponents head with my free hand because it makes it easier for him to tuck his chin- then shrug your shoulders up...squeeze elbows together...expand chest...should only take 5 seconds for tap

I know there are freaks you can't choke easily, but most people tend to go in 7-10 seconds tops if you have it sunk in from my limited experience.

I made a guy pass out in like 2 seconds, you obviously don't have his corotid arteries viced in between your forearm and bicep. Probably you didn't get in good underneath his chin. Get the front of his neck all the way into the crook of your arm. I don't see how anybody could resist 15 seconds without blood flow to their brain.

BTW it should not be a neck crank, that would be a different submission
