The last time I was in St. Paul (Arden Hills, actually), the only dojos I saw were in strip malls. All of them looked terribly flashy and all of them had children's programs. Some of the training I witnessed there was pretty sad. Unfortunately that's all I can give you, as I didn't have the time (or inclination) to investigate further. I really can't say that these were all McDojos, but I can say they did look like places I wouldn't be caught dead in. It really amazed me how extensive the stripmall karate/tkd school phenomenon is in the States. My town's about the same size as St. Paul, and there's nothing like that stuff here. There's McDojos fer sure, but they are rarely as flashy as most of the dojos I saw down there were.

Ohhhh no you don't. You're not dragging me into that one. Yet another topic that's been done to death around here and adding my personal opinion to the pile is pretty pointless. All I'll say is I don't like them, and leave it at that.

brandeissansoo :What's wrong with a children's program?
This might be a thread in and of itself. A good trad. sensei said that very few from his children's class make the transition to adult. He also said that many of the kids are put there by their parents because they are getting their asses kicked at school and they are getting their asses kicked for good reasons and they are not the best students to deal with.
