Lafayette, the Mecca of McDojos

Acadiana Karate basically admits that their main goal is to make sure you get a blackbelt.

"Since Acadiana Karate is a "BLACK BELT SCHOOL, " our goal for every student is to help them earn their BLACK BELT...."

They have a "street self defense program" which is basically the same ol' "BEST OF EVERYTHING IN A ONE MONTH PROGRAM!!!" kindof thing. They even have a "little ninjas" program. HOW CUTE!!!!


Lafayette Karate is a smaller, less advertised dojo with an instructor who claims alot more in person than on the web. He says on his website that he was in "all Japan Kumite". In person, HE COMPETED IN THE KUMITE. He says he has studied "nearly everything" and that no style is really that different, and insists that BJJ is ineffective because of biting and scratching on the street.

I don't think I've found a serious place here yet. This sucks.

SERIOUSLY! that pisses me off more than anything when some one says biting will fend off an armbar!

If you armbar some one and they bite you, one of 2 things is going to happen.

1.) You break their arm. They will scream, therefore releasing the bite. You get up and kick them in the teeth and walk away.

2.) You break their arm. They bite even harder. You sit up and pop them in the throat 5 or 6 times. They're going to either cough or gasp for air, letting you go. You get up and kick them in the teeth and walk away. You may need some stitches, but you walk away from it and they are NOT GOING TO **** WITH YOU ANYMORE.

Biting wont fend off an armbar if you're still in a bad position. Biting in addition to armbarring somebody while you're in control is much better.
