    Hell yeah! Hell no!
Aren't there bars that just stay up with spring power? As in, they push out with springs, so you don't have to screw anything in?

In my search for such a pullup bar, I was told that it's hard to find those nowadays. I've heard that some of them would pop off in mid rep, causing some injuries. There's a couple of doorway pullup bars that don't need to be screwed into the frame, but they're not the spring tension kind. They use leverage (your bodyweight) to stay up on the doorjam.

Here's one called the Door Gym. I found better (more affordable) versions, but I don't remember where right now. I just got the $15 screw in variety.

Yeah, the door gym. That's pretty much what I have. Sports Authority actually makes one for like $20. It uses leverage to basically "clamp" to the door with a bar on top of the doorjam, so it attaches/detaches fast and easily. It's pink and black, but who cares when you're at home.

When did you get your pullup bar from the Sports Authority? I couldn't find anything like that there when I got mine this summer. I was wondering if that was one of the types that they (as well as other sporting goods stores) discontinued.
