Those stats on that site are generated automatically, and the fact it says his style is TKD might be outdated (considering a ton of his wins came from the rear-naked choke or a kimura, which I sure as hell never learned in my 2 years of TKD earning my McBlackBelt.)
And TKD gives out/sells black belts like candy (I posted on a different thread how my old McSensei has given out OVER 3000 himself) so basically anyone involved in MA in the 70s/80s would probably have taken Karate or TKD-- that doesn't mean they use any of it now.
You would think with all the tens of thousands of TKD students in the US over the past few decades that if there was any real merit to it as a fighting style we would see some people in MMA using it, but it glaring absence probes how useless it is.

God another one of these.... Just because someone learned TKD doesn't mean they apply it to their MMA fights.
Remember the time in the 6th grade where you got your ass-kicked by that 80-pound short-kid? Got BJJ?

Agreed, like I said the techniques he won with (the few fights he didn't get KTFO) are not TKD techniques. Until someone shows me a fight where someone uses all the crap spinning/jumping kicks with any success I will maintain that TKD is useless.

MM4Guy...... I've actually seen the guy fight. As for Pizdoff...I was joking.
I was just stating that a guy who falls under the TKD banner was on Sherdog. Not only that but we was beating guys a la TKD in the earlier days.
Before one speaks one should think about what they're saying. There aren't too many pure breed fighters out there anymore MM4guy but some claim only BJJ, or Muay Thai, or Boxing. Very few fighters claim kung-fu or TKD or Karate. Some guys rag on TKD with just cause. 99% of the TKD I've come across sucks balls. But my point is that there still is 1% out there that can take care of itself. I was posting here was to show you that they are out there.
Go away I'm talking to myself

His record ain't much! Also i saw a few of his pictures and he seems to be a Grappler a well.
Also take a look at this guy: http://www.sherdog.com/fightfinder/displayfighter.cfm?fighterid=210
This guy is a JKD practitioner and in one of his maches he defeated Frank Shamrock in the Desision in the remach Frank won.
In the style it Says Jeet Kune Do but this Guy has trained and trains with the Machado Brothers(BJJ) Basically he won his most of his opponents with BJJ Subs.

I think 1% is a little generous on your part

>Full contact roundhouse kick = Muay Thai or a kb variation, as TKD exsists now you're only going to tap the person.
No twitlord, Full contact roundhouse kick = you wanted to actually hit the guy. Duh.

..hit the guy with a Muay Thai style round house kick :P
"Training = pain." - I said that.
PizDoff when drunk: "I'm actually MOST pissed that my target for the evening got drink...then I gave her my Bullshido Canada hoodie like a gentleman because she was outside with not much on...did I mention she barfed twice when I got our jackets...steaming barf is kinda fascinating..." - PizDoff.
Neutral, or nearly so

So if I kick with a roundhouse kick and its effective it is a Muay Thai kick, even though I've never had a day of MT. Interesting.
As has been said on other threads there are only so many ways to throw a technique that make sense from a modern martial stand point.
As for a guy having a kickboxing competing background, how does that violate the possibility of their using tkd or karate techniques in their fights? I'm pretty sure that's how American Kickboxing was started: TKD and Karate contests. Just because they didn't use some of the less applicable techniques doesn't change their core style or its name.
K-1 (and the like)and NHB tourneys are VENUES not styles. Certainly these venues have illustrated what techniques are generally going to be effective and what training methods are superior but they don't magically change the name of a style.
Talk to JKDC about what JKD is. Also can't someone have something like a JKD as a base style and then crosstrain? Talk to JKDC and then see if you can answer that.
