    I think The Journal of Manly Arts had some old turn of the century article on european cane work.

    Those canes were pretty badass. Hickory with a metal core.

    During "the commune", history reports the use of cannes with blades hidden in them, that was some gentleman weapon. Obvious anyway... ^^
