Thread: Best Kicks?

Heath Herring? The only time I saw him fight (against Vovchanchyn) Herring was dropping both hands with every front kick. (Vovchanchyn saw it and *just* missed taking Herring's head off with a big cross.) I hope he didn't learn that from TKD ...

Unless I'm mistaken, didn't Benny Urquidez and his brother both go to Bruce Lee's school for a while?

I think the best kick has to be a Thai shuffle into a leading leg Thai kick directed at my opponent's back leg, on the outside of the thigh right above the knee. Do it hard enough and they'll drop from the pain. This is a great move to discourage people from fighting you southpaw where their lead leg is VERY susceptible. You can even attack the inside of their lead leg with this kick if they are fighting the same stance as you are.
I'm also quite fond of the Thai style front kick when used after a combination jab/cross to cover up the sight line on the way in. It is a devastating push kick that'll land them on their a$$.
My favorite has to be the lead leg Thai check. When your opponent attempts to throw a rear leg kick bring your lead leg up and thrust the outside of your shin at the inside of the thigh on their kicking leg. If you have the advantage and they aren't expecting this move PUSH with the shin and you'll spin them around. You'll stop the kick at the fulcrum and cause them great pain and increase your positioning as well. You'll want to shin condition for this one because you may get some shin on shin clacking.
