O'right boyd ! You've got your point of view but don't take your prejudices for granted. Do you think your practice would save you if threatened to death ?
Could you kill with grappling ??? !!! Or could you kill AFTER having KOed the guy ?

can you kill with grappling? Are you fucking serious? WTF happens when I decide I don't feel like letting that pillow choke go? Or I have a nice neck crank that I feel like tweaking REALLY hard? Its easier to kill with grappling than it is with striking, because on the ground I can put you in a position where you can do NOTHING about it. When you try and kill me in hand to hand on your feet...well...most likely you'll wind up on the ground...dead.

    Well, lol !!!!
Go back to your room wank with your ego ... or explain exactly what you were thinking about.
Before applying the choke you've got to catch the guy no ? So start with "I grab the guy, then..." That will sound more realistic. Com'on think a little. Is that so easy to grab someone and if yes explain HOW !! I do believe you can counter anything with the appropriate training and I insist even with chinese boxing as well as any other fighting art (that term kung fu just annoys me, you could be practising the "kung fu of the window cleaner" just the same). The practice of a fighting technique (I think) is just a way to raise the ratios to win the fight or to keep fit.
The rest is experience. Do you have some kittens ?

There is nothing wrong with kung fu. What's wrong are the instructors today! Find a good qualified (with proper lineage) instructer and you will see that there is a lot of good in some Kung Fu styles.

Just as a disclaimer, I would like to remind everyone here that I am a karate practioner with a bare minimum of groundfighting experience.

Now, Herr Merchant, you failed to answer my intial question. You made a vague reference to kung fu being an art that consists entirely of super-duper mauling attacks that are so badass you'd be put in front of a UN War Crimes tribunal for crimes against humanity should you ever be forced to use them, i.e. Muay Thai's "Tiger Genocide" technique. You then failed to support that with any proof. Brandeissansoo, I believe that there are extremely effective moves in kung-fu, but I'd like to know what makes kung-fu a KILLING art, as he said, and not a "knock you unconscious" art. And furthermore, I'd like to know the difference between the two.

Every art eventually goes the way of the McDojo. We live in a capitalist society, and people will sell anything they can get others to buy, quality or not.

What makes most kf "killing" arts is that you use very specific targets with very specific weapons. In addition, most strikes are directed at joints of some kind. Attacking these weak points leads to more permanent damage than most sport/mma/competition arts would allow. In Kf the goal is generally to decimate the opponent so that they can never attack you again. Basically kf(with the exception of wushu) was not designed for sport. In MMA/sport/comp arts the object is not to permanently disfigure or maim you opponent, but to make them tap, etc. That's the difference.
