From personal experience, I have found that most Kung-fu schools have been Mcdojos, that claim to teach deadly techniques.

Maybe, if one of you are lucky enough to go to a Kung-Fu school that teaches something realistic maybe you could share your experiences with the rest of us.

Correct me if I'm wrong, but the shinai is a training weapon to represent a real sword, so what would be the point of doing an X block against it?

Think twice, maybe it seemed to you that it was mc dojos BECAUSE they didn't try their deadly techniques on you. Otherwise you could have ended up dead. If those people had to prove themselves before people like you, they would go into jail often for murder I assume. Kung fu kills, it doesn't knock down or out.
