WHat the hell is this ?

I have found many websites similar to this that list martial arts and give various points for strikes grappling etc. But nobody ever actually says what they are. My guess is that it is some or other role playing game like dungeons and dragons? Some of the martial arts listed aren't even real. But what is interesting is that they have some very obscure and unusual arts.

It obviously for a RPG. And almost any art can be looked up thanks to the internet so it shouldn't be surprising. Although I am suprised they had NULLBOXING listed. The book series they got that from is one of my favorites. The first on, STREETLETHAL, was written in 1983 and it pretty much sets up the who MMA venue and covers everything from EXTACY drug use to AIDS. It a real instresting read written by Steven Barnes.

What is null boxing, I thought it was a made up art

It is. I comes from the novels I was talking about.

Nullboxing is a futuristic art, set in the novels, were competitors fight in space in a weightless sphere. It is brutal and almost anything goes, excpet striking directly into joints and other stuff similar to MMA events now. The fighters who become nullboxers are form MT fighters, wreslters, boxers, karateka, etc. Because the have to move faster and be stronger than normal (you have to be able to hit and cause damage and not push the guy away) they undergo intense training. The fighters tend to be bigger more defined than normal pple so the are considered by many as FREAKS, much like MMA fighters were thought of.

I recently reread the series and it amazes me how much Barnes predicted, although I don't think it was intentional.

The first book was published in 1983 the main character Aubry Knight, huge well built blackman, is an up and coming nullboxer who was formerly a mafia enforcer. He gets set up and sent to prison. He escapes and with the help of an uwilling exotic escort he sets out to get revenge. The others themes in it are the THAI V virus, as sexually transmited disease that waste pple away. and the Cyobli mushroom that causes hightened sexual and emotional feeling that are similar to Extasy.

The author is a MA and Sci enthusiast. He even writes his friend, Dan Inosanto, into the book as a doctor.

I don't know. I happened upon that site looking up another MA.

The novels I mentioned have nothing to do with this game.

It looks like its a work in progress for their own varient of the cyberpunk theme. What would be interesting is if they do a live version (the photo from the front page seems to suggest they might be heading in that direction). Unfortunately most LRPs have pretty strict rules regarding physical contact, which to my mind makes them suck.

Yeah, it's just cyberpunk. Asia, you shouldn't be surprised about the nullboxing entry if it comes from a futuristic novel. That's what cyberpunk is based on. William Gibson and guys like that mostly, but anything futuristic and usually with a violent theme. I played in an online cyberpunk game once. Damn thing took forever because of the immense ruleset!

Your right gong sau I shouldn't be surprised. It just that the books it comes from are old, the first one is out of print but I think you can still find the other two. Most SCI FI fans know the author for his work on DEEP SPACE NINE but not for his MA works.
