I hope this isn't a one of us trolling, because it is awesome on so many levels:
Thanks for the invite to visit this new group. The Jedi are not so far fetched. It is said that the Shaolin Priests could walk through walls, and on sand, they left no footprint. With a simple glance, they could see your soul--and change your mind.
There have been, and are now, modern day Jedi's. The Jewish Defense League comes to mind, and while I claim Christianity as my faith, our common forefathers faith places me in league with the JDL.
Have you ever heard of the Palladins? Roman Catholics were an endangered species at one time. The Palladins were the Pope's soldiers, foresaking home, wealth, and property to fight in his name. The Swiss Guard is the visible example of the Palladin today. Are the Palladins active today, fighting for the faith? Perhaps that explains John Kerry's failure to be elected.
You may wish to make note that there is a fine line between the Jedi, the Shaolin, the Palladin, and the religious zealot. Would you place Hamas, for example, in the same class as one of the JDL's freedom fighters?
So, where does that place our Nation, the good old US of A? E Pluribus Unum, out of the many, One. Strikingly, this motto has not wavered. In our short history 685,000 died to preserve our consitution and its principles. Why do we support Israel? Why do we support the oppressed? Perhaps Jefferson was a Jedi Knight. He could have been Yoda, actually. Read the Constitution. WE THE PEOPLE.... Is that so different from "Listen to the Force..."?

Somehow I really don't think it makes sense to say that medieval Buddhist monks in China have anything to do with present day American libertarians. Yah...I think that's just stupid and shows a profound ignorance of history.

Yeah, also known as a militant Jewish group linked to anti-Arab terrorist attacks in Israel, not to mention anti-Blacks.Jewish Defense League
http://www.ict.org.il/organizations/...e.cfm?orgid=19
They're also banned/outlawed in Israel:In 1968, Rabbi Meir Kahane established the Jewish Defense League, the forerunner of the Kach movement. The declared goal of the movement at the time was to combat black antisemitism.
In September 1969, Kahane immigrated to Israel. Though he had declared that once in Israel he would not engage in politics, he spoke out against the black Jews in Dimona, and later openly advocated the expulsion of Arabs from Israel. One of his first campaigns against Arabs was in 1972, when he distributed pamphlets in Hebron calling upon the mayor to stand trial for his part in the massacre of the Jews in Hebron in 1929.
The Kach movement first sought election to the Knesset in 1973, but received only about 13,000 votes, which were not enough to win a seat. Two years later Kahane returned to his activities in Hebron, this time calling for the expulsion of the Arabs from the city.
