You are probably NOT a good candidate for refractive surgery if:...You actively participate in contact sports. You participate in boxing, wrestling, martial arts or other activities in which blows to the face and eyes are a normal occurrence.

Of course, the key word is "probably."

I'm getting mine done soon, I specifically asked my doctors about head contact. They said to avoid eye contact for 3 months -- so I'm staying out of ground for 2 months and stand-up for 5 weeks and I'm not sparring/boxing for 3 months.

They told me that was fine, and nothing would be an issue after that.

Considering how many times I've had contacts rubbed out of my eyes I've been hesitant.

I also don't really care despite having contacts, and wearing reading glasses while working at a computer.

I suggest contacts or sport glasses that are meant ot take the wear and tear.

    But thats just my opinion.
Anyone who uses words like reccomend or garuntee is unlikely to have any knowledge about ANYTHING, let alone optometry. No one cares what your opinion is.

Add "consoltation" to the list. Also, if you're talking to an optician (one who makes eyeglasses) about getting Lasik surgery, you're probably getting biased information. If you get Lasik surgery, she's lost you as a customer. Think about it.

If your mom was a doctor, then that might have some merit.

    Conclusion: Shut up, Reikon.

Does LASIK permanently weaken the eye structure or something? Past the recovery point of x months, I don't understand why LASIK is "probably not a good idea if you're involved in contact sports." We need a Bullshido opthamologist.

    Why? We have Reikon.

There are guys in my school that have had it and have no problems. Something about my face makes people like to grind it with their forearms though so I'm not too interested in even risking it.
