    Stabilizer muscles are the ones that keep a weight from moving in an undesired range. Using bench press as an example, stabilizer muscles keep the barbell from swinging up toward your head or down toward your nuts. They also keep it from leaning to the left or right. Also, stabilizer muscles keep your body from moving undesirably, like, turning to the side and falling off the bench. Some, but not all, of the stabilizer muscles used in bench press would be your Serratus, Transverse Abdominis, Internal and External Obliques, Posterior Deltoids, Lats, and Biceps Brachii.
