    WTF Wisconsin...?

Wisconsin - 941.24. Possession of switchblade knife. (1)
Whoever manufactures, sells or offers to sell, transports,
purchases, possesses or goes armed with any knife having a
blade which opens by pressing a button, spring or other
device in the handle or by gravity or by a thrust or
    movement
is guilty of a Class A misdemeanor... [Note: the
wording of this statute is different from all other state
    switchblade statutes.]
So what, I can pack a double-edged fixed blade but not my locking folders? Fine by me. Fucking retard lawmakers... :XXknight:

I think you are misreading it slightly. You can carry a hand opened folding knife, just not one that opens by a spring type mechanism. And the knife has to be exposed, you cannot conceal it.

I think the "gravity" and "movement" may be talking about butterflies

There are also knives you can open by simply holding them downwards and pressing a button. The blade drops and locks into position. It is also referring to those. Basically any type of knife that is meant to be opened with one hand.

But my point is that it's so ambiguously written that it leaves too much open to interpretation in terms of the way the knife can open...so anytime THE MAN wants to assfuck you on a technicality, the looseness of this particular statute leaves your backdoor wide open. I'm not gonna stop carrying my folders, but I just find it particularly aggravating at how legalese, while so precisely written sometimes, is just as often left very unprecisely (imprecisely?) to give broader powers to ***** disarmament weaponphobic assmonkeys, amonge other things.

Overbreadth and ambiguity are challenges as to constitutionality of a law.

I think you are over reading the document. It doesnt appear to prohibit knives with locking mechanisms. So your locking blade is the same legal standards as any other folding implement such as a swiss army knife etc. Of course blade length has its own issues. If you are worried about blade length just get a concealed weapons permit if allowed in your state. It covers knifes, guns, thermonuclear devices ....etc. :profe:

Wisconsin is one of only 4 states that does not allow for concealed carry.

In Texas, it is illegal to carry a switch blade, gravity assisted(butterly knife) opening, or double edged knife. Blade lengths up to 5.5 inches are theoreticly legal, but I believe it is up to the descretion of the officer based on county regulations.
