Yup judo is cheap....$15 (AUD) a month for me. for some of the best training around. Whats to lose?

I pay about 15 bucks a month. Judo is cheap because Judo has fallen out of favor with many Martial Artists. If you go to a Judo only forum you will read countless articles on what Judo need to do to revitalize itself. Take advantage of it, you will learn a lot of takedowns and solid groundwork.

Judo is not what you call an "overhead rich" MA, like MT or boxing for example.
All you need are mats and space.
So unless you are being taught by some 6th degree BB with Olympics medals cmining out of his ass, there is no reason to pay a ludicrous amount of money SOLELY for judo instruction.

That pretty much it. And pple greatly underestimate Judo. I still have TKD guys thinking they could take me if I let them user EVERYTHING they know. I still say FINE but they won't show for a duel.

Even from the start Judo was inexpensive and like ronin said most pple do it for the LOVE of it. That being said MA training in Germany is cheap anyways. In Rheiland Pflaz I paid 18 Euro to a gym and could take Boxing, Aikido, Kendo, Wrestling, Judo, German Jujutsu and I could even do rock climbing, hiking, and power lifting all for one price.

what on earth is german jujutsu?

Its a mesh of TJJ, Judo, and now BJJ (they added BJJ in 2000)

The competitions go something like

Round1 Striking and takedowns but only 25seconds on the ground

Round 2 Ground grappling, no strikes.
