I got this kind of headgear for Christmas, how I got it was a kind of funny story for another time.
So far I've only been training with the gear on when I can't actually make it to class and while I hit the heavy bag on my own. So far I've noticed this about it.
-I generally sweat like a bitch when I'm going full out, so the whole 'slip and slide' aspect of the helmet can get bad, eventually.
-The worst part about it, IMO, is that the 'cheek protectors' kind of get in the way of your vision of what's in front of you, hides the body, et cetera.
Fortunate (or unfortunately) my club has not yet progressed to the point where they feel I'm experienced enough (or whatever) to put on the headgear and go play with the local big heavyweights (shucks). I'll post up my own personal experiences with the headgear whenever I have them.

That BOeS mask is the kind my SBG uses in the vale tudo classes, never tried it though.
Tough is not how you act, tough is how you train.

Boxing headgear (with cheeks) with a nice quality mouth piece (like the shockmaster power ultra) has served me just fine.
I bought this a few months ago and I think its about as much protection you need from headgear. (I know everlast is ragged on here)
