Facemask

You should never use a facemask. NEVER. It develops the bad habit of not blacking when strikes come to your face. You need to learn how to block blows coming to your face, and more importantly, how to react when STRUCK there. The facemask will do more harm then good imo.

Why would we care what your non-training ass thinks?

When was the last time you even were hit in training? Oh wait you don't train.

That is what I was told. I use to yell at my instructor that it was causing more harm then good. It ALWAYS twisted to the side and completely blocked my vision. That really sucked when a punch came in.

Regardless of whether or not a facemask reenforces bad habits those who haven't trained in forever should keep their poorly informed opinions to themselves.

This is like me giving basketball coaching advice. Sure I understand the game and the basics of playing. That's it though.

I wear leather headgear in my school, very similar to what amateur boxers wear.

That thing is only stopping concussions, not the pain of the shot. If it's loose on your head, it can twist, but having someone strap it on for you solves that problem.

If a person earns a graduate degree, be it a M.Sc. or a Ph.D., its never taken back due to inactivity. So why should exerience be any different? Whether it happened 10 mins ago, or 10 years ago, time doesn't diminish the value of one's experiences.

Case in point, recently I spent an afternoon standing around talking to Ron Edwards, former Canadian middleweight boxing champion, and George Chuvalo, who twice fought Mohammad Ali, over 30 years ago. Need I say any more?
