Started BJJ at last!

Wow, first class and I just realized how out of shape I am.

I got winded very fast, the other low ranking people don't seem to have the experience to work the locks or chokes.

This brown belt that hadn't shown up in awhile came in and was taping all the blues he was pretty good.

Its a fun class, but I am going to try and get in alot better shape since I want to beable to easily compete with the people at my level, I am one of the youngest in the class also.

All the blue belts are freaking strong.

Sweet, just curious what school do you train with?
And do they emphasize MMA? Or fighting with a striking opponent? (Like reminding you to keep your head low/ hands up?)

Remember the time in the 6th grade where you got your ass-kicked by that 80-pound short-kid? Got BJJ?

Hey, that's great. It's bloody addictive -- it'll become all you think about. I lost about twenty pounds my first six months in BJJ. Fabulous workout.

Ya alot of the guys seem pretty good, yes they do remind you to keep your guard up but in the regular BJJ class you don't strike.

In the Vale Tudo class they have, they teach striked from the mounts and guard positions.

There is a compeition today at Winston High in Dallas that the school is competing in which I am hoping to go to.

I go to Mohler's in Coppell.

It can be friggin addictive, especially once you start to get a little stamina and learn some technique and positioning. Glad to see you signed up.

Talk about addictive. I'm on vacation last week in Maui for a friend's wedding. The weather is great, everything is pretty much paid for and what do I do? I track down a BJJ place on the island so I can get at least one fix while I'm there. The other people I was staying with looked at me like I was growing horns. My wife just laughed and told me not to break anything. Being a submission junkie can be quite sad sometimes (but a lot of fun).
