    Martial Arts Careers

I'm at that time in my life right now where I should be deciding what job I'm going to have for the rest of my life, and I actually have an interview with my local police station to become an officer in about a month. I'm excited about it, but I don't know if I'd be happy with that for the rest of my freakin life. So I was wondering, since my favorite thing in the whole world is martial arts, how many actual career opportunities are there that have to do with martial arts? I mean how many actual jobs can a person get, and live off of, that involve the martial arts? I would really appreciate any of the ideas you could come up with, except of course the suggestions to becoming a ninja assassin. =P

There has been a greater demand in the entertainment industry for extras and stuntmen with martial arts experience.

Who knows you may get to be "Goon #2" in some action flick.

hehe That would be pretty awesome, but do you think a person could live off of that? I feel like you'd be lucky to do that even once a year, and being goon #2 wouldn't really pay too well. It is a start though right? I mean look at Enter the Dragon. Jackie Chan was like goon #47 and now look at him. hehe What else is there though?

so long as you realise that the chances of you making it big enough to earn a living are so incredibly small you might as well start buying lotto tickets instead

I would love that too. I'd do it in a heartbeat, but how does a person get into that kind of thing? How do you get trainers and enter amateur tournamets and all that stuff? Also, I'm not really big enough for that kinda stuff. I'm only 5'9'' and like 140lbs. I mean of course if I got serious about it, I could weight train and gain some weight, but still, how does a person actually approach that kind of career? I've seriously been searching all over the internet for ideas. I even searched websites for colleges near me to see if there are any kinds of courses that have anything to do with a career involving martial arts. I'm starting to feel hopeless and it's pretty shitty considering it's the rest of my life we're talking about here. =/

I wanted to just type, "teach" .... but the damn forum software won't let you post less than 10 characters. "teach" is only 5 letters long, so I am forced to just randomly add another 5 characters even though all I wanted to suggest as an MA career was: teaching.
