There is a pretty good reason for this. BJJ is Judo with a Brazillian twist.

A good crossface doesn't feel very good on the person that is shooting. Ahh, the good ol' days.

Wrestling has the simplest and high percentage takedowns. Some tips for you: When going for a single leg keep your head inside. Learn some takedown defense like crossface, sprawling, and the wizard (wreslters know what that is).

AHH ha, I was wondering what a wizard was. Whizzer, I know.. but I don't think it's a takedown counter. Jap Whizzer and Polish Whizzers were hip throws that I learned.

    Isn't a whizzer a arm tie up?

That's what I heard it as, and a "jap wizzer" as a hip throw.

Did the whizzer last night. (Is it also called the spinner ? The Sombo move right? )

Or should I say, watched my instructor do it, had him do it to me, then I flopped my head on the floor and stuck my legs in the air whilst simultaneously clawing at the air with my arms in an attempt to imitate it.

Don't think I will be pulling that one out of the bag at the comp.

Don't have time to train with wrestlers, not yet anyway. Don't know whether all standing work in BJJ can be classed as judo throws. For me at the moment it is a case of 'make the other guy eat the mat and try to land on his head and / or back / neck spine. Hard.'

Thanks, I've never seen it written down. I always thought it was wizard.
