Fedeykin, I don't agree. There are several factors in determining a good martial arts school, and the "style" or system is one of them. Some systems are more realistic than others, some systems also are a better "fit" for to people for one reason or another. A poor instructor can make a system look outright silly, but no matter how good an instructor is, SCARS will never be something good.

What ever happened to "style < school < individual"? Did Muay Thai and Brazillian Jiujitsu beat it up?

It never existed. It's style + school + individual + training + tactics = good fighter.

A weakness in any of those makes a lesser fighter. Tank Abbot is almost an exception to the rule, but I think he was just lucky with his wins.

I agree and disagree with this one. If the system/style is legit then then it's not that dependent. Which is what I think you're getting at. I wouldn't say one is more legit than another because all things being equal most styles a very comparitive and have overlapping techniques. In other words you'll find things more in common than uncommon about the varioius styles. Saying SCARS wouldn't be something good would be saying that none of their techniques work. It would be dependent on the person learning, person teaching etc. (but scars does serious suck the horse penis)

Hey, feedback, where do you train at anyway?

Straight Blast Gym, Beaverton. Though I can't train there now since I'm in college, so I do a lot of combo and bag work on my own.

SCARS could be a good system, if they didn't make such absurd assumptions about fighting. I mean, these guys actually believe that their punches will never miss or be blocked/parried. They also believe that everyone will react the same to those punches.
