The Future Of MMA : Team Combat ?

    Seriously , why not ?

I mean , why not have Team Fights ?

I think that this would bring an entirely new Dimension to MMA , and I also think that some of the current "Truths" about fighting would definately alter once this happened . I also think that the % of Ground to Standup skills would alter , at least in terms of Priority , and the types of Victories that you would see would definately alter .

What would be FAIR ruleset(S) ?

Whos Gyms/Teams do you think would Dominate in what devisions (If you could pick from any Camps no matter Promotions) and Why ? Would this Vary on Amateur and Pro levels ?

What kind of Strategems/counters do you think would end up being successful ?

Do you think that Weight Classes could be Eliminated ? As in , would a Mix of sizes be benificial , or would mass still will out ?

    What would be an Ideal # of Combatants on a side ? 2 ? 4 ? 10 ? Why ?

What would differing sized matchups have to offer , as in which wouldf be more Exciting , more Technical , more about Speed , more about Mass , more about Endurance , and why ?

I dont really think that it would be ay more Dangerous than one on one matchups , and thats because the sides would cancel one anothers prowess out , unless some WOEFULLY bad management descisions were made .

I think that one ruling that would HAVE to be Imput is that once a person was , well , "Cancelled" in whatever manner , the person that cancelled him/her would have to leave the Fighting Area without making any more Contact with another Combatant .

This would stop one side from a quick overwhelm resulting from a turn of fortune , but once the combatant in Question was remove he/she could "Tag in" at any time . And if the team with more Combatants remaining had a person "Cancelled" (KO/Sub) then they would be expected to Immediately re-even the #'s by replacing them , or said team would choose to Fight Shorthanded .

While we're at it, how about a weapons event?

Hmm... I was actually mocking this thread but as I typed that. I suddenly thought that would be pretty cool. Two fighters, kendo sticks ala japanese duel style minus the damn armour.

Stick fighting "MMA" type of events do happen, just not in the USA so often. The Dog Brothers do have competitions sometimes.

Team and weapons fights in the USA will never fly because the gov't wants to protect us from ourselves.

American conservatives only push a moral agenda, typically. It's the Liberals that want to regulate how fast people can drive and how much of their paycheck needs to go to charity.

Libertarian != Liberal. Most liberals are Socialists, and Statists... what's good for the "whole" vs. the individual, even at the expense of the individual's freedoms.
