Looked more like wrestling to me. I still don't believe BJJ works.

I have no sympathy for the blond jerk...He chose to be an asshole in an environment where the other assholes were badder than he was. First rule of living past 18: don't be an asshole when the other assholes around are badder than you.

Kainoa is still an asshole for intiating the fight in the water and on the land. It was pretty obvious that the blond kid was no threat to anyone very quickly. As Ken said...there were more than enough people to remove blondie without a vicious beating being empoloyed. Kainoa was vicious and irresponsible. He acted like a bully and all the BJJ in the world won't make him any less a bully. It looks bad on any martial artist when someone does this.
And lo, Kano looked down upon the field and saw the multitudes. Amongst them were the disciples of Uesheba who were greatly vexed at his sayings. And Kano spake: "Do not be concerned with the mote in thy neighbor's eye, when verily thou hast a massive stick in thine ass".

Does it look bad for guns when someone gets shot?
    No it doesn't.
In this case, wherer or not the guy delivering the beatdown is an asshole is debatable, but the fact that sloppy BJJ worked well is just that, a fact.

People who have never surfed and/or never read about surfing in Hawaii need to STFU they have no context. Blonde kid got off easy. If there was no crowd the beating would have been worse not better. That was not showing off.

The kid got off VERY easy. All he had at the end of the day was a couple of black eyes and a slightly split lip. I've come out of practice looking worse.
Partially, this was because the BJJ guy threw weak punches ))

yes and no.. he is a bully no it only reflects on him

if the some Bjj practitioners wish affirmation with this video it seems odd as

    1. it really isn't a fight at all.

    2. why? one should have confidence in the first place without this vid and if you DO think this is confirmation you are betraying poverty of experience

It does if the other guy is just standing there. The situation determines the response. There were hundreds of less extreme solutions to the problem that would have worked as well or better. My point is that martial artists should hold themselves to a higher standard. I don't care if Hawaiian surf etiquette requires that he be strung up by his scrotum...that doesn't make it right. (once again...I realize my inability to understand why Kainoa thought it was necessary to brutalize the jerk is deeply rooted in the fact that I am not 18 anymore. More's the pity. :llorar: )

edit: Just realized your intent hap...My bad. You are right. BJJ isn't the problem Kainoa is. We can understand that...many others cannot tell the difference between teh art and the practitioner. I should have been clearer.

Actually, yes it does. And depending on who it was that got shot, all the worse. I'm not saying it's right. But a lot of people do see things that way.
