I once heard that people with thin/skinny wrists are genetically weaker than those with naturally thick wirsts ? Any truth in that ?

I wondered why bullshido was losing a few of it's older members, this is certainly a good reason.

Don't do pushups on your joints, you'll ruin your hands.

Also, theres no need to thicken your wrist.

How exactly would doing pushups on your joints (I'm guessing you mean knuckles?) ruin your hands?

So then finger pushups are bad for you?

Hell, any form of exercise taken to excess can be bad for you. Some are just worse than others.

But considering real martial arts training involves getting the crap kicked out of you, it'd be safe to say a little stress on your joints is not as much of a concern.

There is absoloutly no sense is performing orthopaedically unsound movements. Exercise is supposed to safely incur a positive response. Joints don't bounce back like muscle; hopefully we can preserve them as well as possible to extend our lives in the physical recreation of our choosing.

Wrists can't be thickened. That is why they are used as size references. By this I mean things like wrist circumfrence is about equal to the cicumfrence of the loop made by pressing the tip of your forefinger to the tip of your thumb, The length of your foot is about equal to the length of your forearm. There are a bunch of correlations like this in the geometry of the human body.
I have real skinny wrists and I wish they were bigger, since when someone is able to grab you and close their grip all the way around it makes it much harder to break their grasp. Oh, and being genetically inferior sucks too. People like me should be cooked en masse in ovens.
