Interesting. My old nickname was Thunderkok.

If you "created your own style" from knowledge you learned from other styles, wouldnt it technically just be MMA?

If someone could pick apart the different styles you use, maybe. But if it's one big mess of random, quasi-unidentifiable techniques, then no.

I wonder what would be the criteria to create your own style?

What do any of you think in terms of years?

Callme: Click on the UserCP link above the thread. You have a PM from one of the Staff to which you need to respond.

Creating your own "style" is easy, just come up with a marketable name and you're set.

In reality, everyone has their own way of fighting so everyone really has their own "style".

Study a couple of basic moves from your school of MA.

You keep what are working for you and drill them.

Find some other moves to cover the area you are lacking.

Drill them till they become part of you. Then you may call them your own.

Once this is done, you may mix or combine or vary your moves.

You may divert from your original moves. You may converge or merge several moves.

They are from you. It is yours. To name or not name may not be as important.

Whatever works for you works for you.

You always fight in your way or "style". It is your style.

    Cool.

You mean start from scratches with no schooling of "other" styles.

I think it maybe easier to start with some basics with a school to have some foundations or base to start.

You may pick boxing or MT for kicks and punches.

You may pick JJJ or aikido for throws and ground entanglements.

Then you would know what is good for you and what is not for your physique.

Then you have some basic skills and know more about your body structure. Certain techniques not working for you maybe dropped and pick up something else to replace them.

From some skills you have and a working knowledge of your body, you may take it from there anyway you want.

    Just my 2 cents.
