jabs are hard to deal with, maybe some of the grapplers on here with their superior styles will argue with me, but generally I feel that the jab is probably my worst enemy because I'm not getting a lot to work with. But on the other hand, in my limited striking experience, jabs are easy to block and absorb because they're not generally heavy-handed

You can attack the elbow on a jab sometimes. Simultaneously slap up underneath it and down on the top of the fist as it comes in.

thats some pretty good speed/accuracy/timing to be able to catch a jab like that omar, me thinks your face could possibly regret that technique if it didn't work the first couple of times

I've done it often enough. It's no more dangerous than the way you would normally deal with a jab. You still slip your head. Your rear hand would be 'patting' down the jab anyways. The only thing that's different is you add on an upwards pat to their elbow. I really don't believe you could break anything....well maybe...but you can definately hyperextend the elbow. You'd have to be superman to catch it on the first try but when I guy keeps throwing his jabs out there and you start to get a feel for his timing...

I really don't understand the question of this thread, but bone locking is cool.
Omar's lock is a good one, the block strike is all one move really. I also particularly enjoy the chance to trap and lock.

What do you mean by this?

By close down, I mean that I'd like to get in pretty close to somebody like a boxer if I could, as evasion is harder when closer and you have to rely on your arms more.
That is, if they don't evade me closing the gap. :)
So I guess what I mean is, I'm out of range, and am faced with choices: I can kick, takedown, do long punches or try to enter the guard. I normally opt for kicking and entering the guard, as I guess I don't have the bottle for takedowns yet. :)

Damn you omar, and your actual experience, we all know discussing possibilities and strategies is far more effective then actually DOING this kinda stuff! :D

And on to pogostick:
...I normally opt for kicking and entering the guard, as I guess I don't have the bottle for takedowns yet.
Um...your not one of those BJJ guys who just sort of leaps onto your with your legs spread like a cheap whore so that you fall down pulling guard are you? Or since you said ENTERING guard did you mean that you are such a sexy beast that your rolling partners usually just lay down on their back and stick up the goal posts.
Please clarify what you mean by "entering the guard" and also by "the bottle for takedowns".

Yes, I meant guard as in standing up guard, rather than the spread of love. :)

You see around here we tend to be such MMA fans that when you say "in guard" the first response is one person on their back with their legs wrapped around the guy on top. It sounds gay but we have a special thread for that now in Trollshido: http://www.bullshido.net/forums/show...threadid=17248
The guy who is still standing is in the other guys guard. And you can tell by his mustache that he is obviously gay.
Did you have a question?...I forgot what the topic was.
