That is a tough call, it would depend on the boxer and if he is training for an upcoming fight.
But, if you look at how many minuts you spend sparring and compare it to how many minuts wou spend on bag work, conditioning, pad work, partner training, strength training, etc.
Sparring will be what? 10% ? 15% maybe 20% at the most ?

Another day, a dude walks around the mat in a gi, patched head to toe, with a whitebelt. We are warming up, he rants about gis, atama is good, mizuno Ichiban sucks, this and that, he says he likes gi game better etc. I experienced some kickass whitebelts so I'm getting ready to be on the receiving end of some major ownage. We start rolling. It turns out it's his FIRST class.
