Those guys were pioneers! I remember ordering that on pay-per view. A couple of the fights are lame. But they all just went balls to the wall! Lets get it on!

Pat Smith is NOT a TKD guy, he is Enshin ( sabaki) and off-shot of kyokushin.
Now, he may have some TKD experince but he is Enshin and Kick boxing.

I own UFC 1. Its good to watch every once in a while. Everytime I see it, it shows me how effective grappling is against a pure striker. Royce dominated those first few tournaments.

I was told that Pat Smith never took Tae Kwon Do.
Gary Goodridge has never taken Kuk Sol Won either. He said it himself in an interview.
The titles were provided to promote legitimacy, according to Goodridge.

Pat Smith is a TKD guy. He trained at the time in Tiger Kim's TKD dojang here in Denver ( www.tigerkim.com ). Old Tig will tell anyne who will listen bout how Pat would be nothing without him. He claims rank in Enshin (the Enshin Karate guys say he's lying, www.honbu.enshin.com and ask him yourself if you like) and some style called Robotae that I have no idea about. I met Pat some time before he entered the UFC when he was fighting in the Sabaki Challenge. He was a loud mouth punk...but he did get the job done. Apparently he told Shamrock that he was immune to pain. Kenny, it seemed, took it as a personal challenge and almost twisted Pat's foot off at the ankle.
I was at the first and second UFC's and despite what WR says he expects to see, Osiris is right, all the fighters stepped up to the plate and performed very well. Gerard continuing through the remainder of his fights with a broken hand, Tuli getting pissed off because he wanted to continue but the ref wanted to sapre him moer of a dental bill. Jim Brown getting hit with Tuli's tooth. Kevin Rosier and Zane Frasier, two karate guys, and Kevin pounds zane with stomps like he was trying to put him through the mat.
So despite WR's (and others on this board) usual bias against Traditional arts, UFC 1 & 2 were nights of good solid action. Everyone came to fight and everyone did a fantastic job.

Goodridge said that he was awarded his belt or whatever in Kuk Sool Won because he found out about a school that was saving up money to send some guy to the UFC and Goodridge said something like "If I can beat him, can I go instead?" and they agreed, he beat the guy, he was awarded his title by the KSW guys and he went on to become Canada's best HW MMA guy to date, IMO.

Thanks for clearing up the Pat Smith thing.
And I agree he is a loud mouth, a skilled loud mouth.
I wonder if he's changed?

No prob Ronin. He could be the best fighter in the world...won't change the fact he's an asshole.

Hmm, it seems that the item can be special ordered in VHS only. I guess I'll check the local libraries around here to see if they have VHS players the general public can use, since I don't own one myself.
Thanks for all the help, guys. I really appreciate it.
