SO, I got the book:
The Canon of judo by Kyzuo Mifune,
Awesome book !!
This baby shows probably the greatest judoka of all time doing some serious ****, and for you grapplers it shows leg locks, ankle locks, suplexs, the works, and for you GJJ guys, you get to see where GJJ came from, and how NOTHING is NEW, just reinvented with different names.
The difference between judo in 1960 when the book was made to now, heck, to even in the 70's after judo become and olympic event in 1964, is very clear.
A must have for anr serious martial artist.

Here's what I have sitting in my Amazon.com shopping cart:
- The Canon of Judo by Kyuzo Mifune
- Best Judo by Isao Inokuma
- Judo in Action by Kazuzo Kudo (reprint of Dynamic Judo)
I am also considering getting Vital Judo by Isao Okano, but the price on Amazon ranges from $120 to $1,110! I found it on Budovideos.com at $40 for each part (it is split into 2 books).
I am also trying to find somewhere to get the entire Judo Masterclass Techniques series, which will probably cost over $220 all together. I can only find a few of them listed in Amazon, and even fewer in stock. I did find a used copy of the Shimewaza book for $24, which is something I've been looking for.
Any other recommendations on judo or grappling books? I've got some cash to burn.

The old Canon of Judo books can run into the 1500 dollar range or so I have heard. My Judo instructor strongly encouraged everyone of us to get a copy, as it is the single most complete text of Judo around. Is Wayne Brady gonna have to choke a bitch?

I wish that it had a video as well to show each of the techniques in motion. The photos are great but I think a video would be killer.

Didn't anyone ever tell him a fat man could never be a ninja
You can't practice Judo just to win a Judo Match! You practice so that no matter what happens, you can win using Judo! The key to fighting two men at once is to be much tougher than both of them.

Ronin69 and others...
Thanks for the wicked links and titles.
This thread got me thinking though...I've got a question for one of the mods on this board.
We have a "links" section on this website. Would it be a good idea to have a "resources" section that provides titles, authors and reviews of the BEST martial arts books (organized by discipline)?
If this sort of thing already exists on Bullshido - I haven't been able to find it. If it doesn't exist yet, maybe it's time that it does. Some will say "Listen, we have the forums to discuss books". True. But finding all the recommended resources would take a lot of searching.
Bullshido reviews dojos...why not books?
