    Due to overwhelming response by PM in regards to my comments earlier that Canadians and Californians should not be allowed to post on this thread, I must post an official apology. Apparently, there are some Canadians who can make pasta.

    I'm deeply sorry for any pain my words may have caused in lumping the Canadians in with the utter ignorance Californians hold for Italian food. What I did was wrong, and I'm sorry.

    The optimum is to prepare it together but when serving a number of guests you have to keep the stuff separate.

    Or if you knew the preferences you could keep a separate amount on the side.

    The whole point of putting it together is probably why lasagna tastes so much better two or three days later...there is some kind of "melding" effect happening.
