Excellent video, some cool clips there (how did u put that together?) at least as good as Sherdog's UFC KOs video but in it's better, with better fighters etc and alot of submissions. Excellent for anyone who doesn't know what that kinda of thing is (i.e. wrestling, bjj, boxing and muaythai, sometimes put together.) Would recommend downloading..

Cool video. It shows the power of both strikes and locks in competition.

Frank Shamrock KO's someone with a left jab, then Tank Abbot KO's someone with a left hook, then Vitor taking Ferozzo down and punching repeatedly to the head, an arm bar tap out, a round kick knock out to the jaw, that big short bald guy who walked in and threw a right cross and knocked that kid out, there's a jumping arm bar technique, there's a guy getting blasted in the face repeatedly when he is down, there is Tito running from Silva for better position, some guy with dreadlocks sending a round kick to a guy's shin and then a right hook to his jaw, then getting taken down by some Japanese guy, right hook by a large black man ko's smaller white boxer, some Japanese guy getting beat down by Silva, Maurice ko'ing some big guy with a single round kick, one kickboxer ko's the other with one round kick, Frank Shamrock I think throwing a round kick for a ko, a knee to the head, nice leg lock for a tap out, Marc Coleman taps out to an arm bar, Tito standard wrestling front hip toss then repeated blows to guy's face until the match is stopped - 2 minutes 34 seconds of video.

Those are excellent clips. Those guys are all very good at what they do. I don't think anyone can claim that MMA is centered on grappling alone when sharp shooters like Maurice, Frank Shamrock, Silva Tank and Vitor are using boxing and TKD kicks to take people out.

That stuff (being MMA) doesn't look much different from the TMA I've seen. Round kicks, "reverse punches" (crosses) and arm bars are all TMA stuff.

Its just that a lot of McTeachers don't show kids how and when to apply the moves and don't coach their sparring.

Also, the guys on this video are extremely fit athletes and they have learned when to throw
what - most likely not from trial and error
in sparring but rather by having good COACHES watch them spar - then tell them what they are doing wrong and what to change.

Teaching should be ACTIVE! You should be coaching and not just showing them kata - then expecting them to break the kata down and learn what targets each move is for and when to throw it and why.

Then, yes - students need to spar. You can't knock eachother out every day or you'll be too stupid to fight after a while - but you can grapple use drills like "cross the bridge" or "speed boxing" and role playing, choreography and target drills for striking - - - as well as boxing, kickboxing and Muay Thai. Then you can use your imagination.

Most importantly you have to play together.

my kung fu eeeeeees better than yours!
