I've done it off & on for almost 3 years, I love it. The movements are smooth, great to do to music. I feel I've gained alot from Escrima/Kali. I have one of the best instructors for this training. Just to watch him was something else. The training is also fun..

I think you should at least get a touch with it. Most arts have departed from their weapons roots. Did you know one of the main reasons militaries learned boxing? It was to help with bayonnet fighting. No joke.
Arnis doesn't just come in handy when some people in a hardware store attack you. It comes anywhere. Even if you can't find a weapon, the practice of awareness, coordination, and vision is something everyone should know. Of course, any art can help on the above, but if one or more people have weapons, it makes the situation a little more difficult... Be it a baseball bat to a pipe to a broken beer bottle. -

in addition to all the usefulness it's also a lot of fun :) there's much room for creativity even for beginners. everyone's challanged to bring in his own ideas, his own style. anything goes - as long as it works.
that's why there are so many escrima/kali/arnis styles out there (although the main principles are the same everywhere). -

I have been training in Latosa Escrima for just over a month now. I love everything about it. The foot work, coordination, positioning yourself so you can make your shots count.
Most of all I love the "simplicity". As my teacher said "why throw a combo, when "one" can finsih it.."
My advice is to find a good teacher and give it a shot.
