Teacher turns blind eye as boys shove rod into classmate's sphincter

SENDAI -- A teacher and seven boys from a public junior high school in Miyagi Prefecture face charges after another schoolboy was brutally injured when the students shoved a metal rod into his anus to punish a badminton blunder, police said Tuesday.

Documents accusing the boys, who cannot be named for legal reasons, of inflicting bodily injury and the teacher of negligence resulting in injury have been forwarded to the Sendai District Public Prosecutors Office in connection with the incident that occurred in December last year.

Even now the 16-year-old boy allegedly attacked in the incident cannot function without an artificial anus.

Police said that the victim made a mistake during a game of badminton he was playing on a lunch break on Dec. 20 last year. Four classmates responded by holding him face down on the ground, while another three rammed a 1.6-meter long, 1 centimeter thick metal rod into his sphincter and anus, seriously injuring him.

The 41-year-old teacher accused with the boys was on yard duty at the time and should have been watching what they were doing, but instead sat down eating his lunch.

Teacher shocks student with electric cord

INUYAMA, Aichi -- An elementary school teacher has been feeling the heat after putting an electric cord around the neck of an 8-year-old student. The 57-year-old teacher at the school in Inuyama, Aichi Prefecture, explains that he only feigned to throttle the boy with the cord to let students know how dangerous it was. But the school's officials have said that the teacher in charge of a third-year student class, whose name is being withheld, just went a step too far.

The teacher found a cassette deck cord drooping from an organ on July 3 and went on to explain to his students how dangerous it was. While saying "the cord could accidentally throttle you like this," he wound it around the neck of a boy sitting in the front row in the class, school officials said. The shocked student was absent from school for several days, and when the topic of his teacher came up at home, he burst into tears.

The teacher, now realizing the recklessness of his actions, offered an apology to the boy. The school principle also visited the houses of the other students in the class to offer an explanation and apologies.

Teen dies while giving 'finger' to pursuing cops

KAMEOKA, Kyoto -- A teen-age motorcycle rider died Wednesday as he turned to give the finger to police officers who had given up pursuing him and slammed into a taxi, police said. A 20-year-old friend of the 19-year-old unnamed boy killed in the crash also sustained a broken jaw. The driver of the taxi into which the motorcycle rider crashed was not hurt. Police said officers in a patrol car noticed the motorcycle riders had ignored a traffic light shortly after midnight, so turned on their siren and began chasing them.

But the motorcycle was able to maneuver the narrow roads far easier than the patrol car and soon sped off some hundreds of meters ahead of the police. Realizing the chase was futile, officers turned off their wailing sirens. The two students riding the motorcycle turned around toward the officers and gave them the finger. However, they failed to notice that they had gone through another red light and slammed into the taxi. The boy steering the motorcycle died instantly.

Math teacher gives Yokohama shoppers the willies

YOKOHAMA -- A public junior high school teacher has been arrested after he exposed his genitals to shoppers in a drugstore here, police said Wednesday.

Atsushi Saito, 36, an emergency math teacher at public junior high schools throughout Kanagawa Prefecture, was arrested for indecent exposure.

Saito admits to the allegations.

Police said that Saito walked into a Yokohama drugstore, undid the zipper on his trousers and began flashing his private parts at other shoppers.

Toilet freak finally pinched over improper business

SAPPORO -- A man who made a habit of watching other men as they used a toilet at JR Sapporo Station has finally been arrested after he grabbed hold of a young man and professed his love, police said Wednesday. Police had warned Tsutomu Fujii several times over the past two or three years about his habit of watching men as they used the toilet. But the 60-year-old inn employee from Sapporo appeared to have ignored them.

He finally went a step too far Tuesday, embracing a 19-year-old man who had just finished urinating. Fujii, arrested for assault, admits to the allegations. "He looked so lovely standing there after he had finished his wee that I simply couldn't resist giving him a cuddle," the old man told the police. Police said that Fujii embraced the young student as he washed his hands in a male toilet near the north exit of the station on Tuesday morning. Fujii was apologetic in the wake of his arrest.

Railway buff killed with ear to the tracks

GOTENBA, Shizuoka -- A teen-age railway buff was fatally hit by a train while he was crouching on the tracks listening for approaching trains, police said Sunday. At around 3:10 p.m., the 40-year-old driver of a local train bound for Kozu from Numazu on the Gotenba Line spotted a boy with his ear to the track, and applied the emergency brakes, police said. However, the driver was not able to stop the train before hitting him near at a crossing in the Higashitanaka district of Gotenba. The boy was killed instantly. Passengers and crew on the train were not injured in the accident, according to local police.
