The better question is why would you want to practice an art thats so worthless as to include jumping kicks

But jumping high is cool. :o

Throwing aside any related opinions or evaluations on "usefulness", can you seriously say it wouldn't be cool to be able to do some of those capoeira flips? Wouldn't it be fun?

i've accepted that they're worthless, but i practice tkd as more of a sport than a method of self-defense, so i like to learn them.

    SQUAT, BITCH!

Actually asside from squats, you could do any number of things. The most important is proabably that you practice jumping more. Find a high wall, now jump up and touch a spot on that wall, as soon as you hit the ground jump back up and touch the spot again. Repeat for a set of 8. You could do complex training where you do this drill, then a set of squats, and repeat three times. Rest in between each set though (this is not supersetting and not circtuit training).

Oly lifts are good, but the benefit to athletes is somewhat limited when you consider the potential for shoulder and wrist injury and the fact that most glass backed jibbering pussies will oly lift for years without using significant enough weights for it to amount to ****. Oly variations though are good (high pulls (with various grip widths), overhead throws (with a keg or medicine ball or whatever) are great explosive triple extension exercises)

other than that, switch your cardio over to sprints, buy some jump soles, and jump jump jump.
