Well, the brain is telling your muscles to stop for a reason right? Surely it would be best to just to stop when it became too much, than to not at all know your limits at all and over exert yourself

(also just realized my damn n00b self doesn't have a sig, so I'll just spout some crap at the end of this so my post doesn't look to weird)

Stop just because your muscles think they're tired? Not push yourself? You're kidding, right? You HAVE to push you limits before you develop.

Interesting stuff. Hate to rain on your parade, but:
1.what is there to say it isn't just a physiological phenomenon? it could be a rebound of the kind you have in german volume training.
2.What is there to say that it's entirely mental- ultimately, if the muscle is utterly fucked, its going to stop working. Sensible to stop working out first.

I know that....but when the muscle begins to send signals to the brain the muscle is far from completely exhausted but it IS getting there. I'm not saying to stop when you're brain acknowledges that there is reasonable strain on the muscle, but are you honestly telling me that those signals aren't being sent for a reason?

Sure they're there. The signals are sent to get your muscles to stop while they still have enough reserve for emergency situations, etc. However, through intelligent training, you can push beyond those mental limits and strain your physical limits without actually injuring yourself.

When I first saw the title I took it to mean you were asking a question about the muscles in your head. For instance the tongue... Then I made the connection to cunnilingus and clicked the link only to be utterly dissapointed.
