Wing Chun has its good points. After studying WC I now jam kicks alot with my low line kicks. Used em at the ATL Throwdown over weekend. I also used them while training in Kickboxing adn it really frustrated my opponents.
I am not overly fond of the punching techniques but that is becuase thaey do not fit in with how I fight.
Wing Chun is not bad in and of itself but the way it is trained sometimes makes it bad. -

Xodus2: Sorry, i assumed you knew. The man in the photo is Thomas Lamont, 3rd techincal degree (from Nick Smart, who was certified under Leung Ting) in Wing Tzun, broken away from the WingTsun organisation to form the Chum Sut Total Fighting Academy and system. He's a WT instructor - my instructor.

You lucky, lucky bastard. I have to complement my striking techniques with muay thai to compensate for the total absence of a hardcore wing chun gym in São Paulo.Originally posted by Das Moose

Xodus2 - no fear mate, it just slipped my mind to mention it because i've been harpin on about it in every single WC thread before now ;-)
WCL - God, i know! Back when i was totally and utterly clueless about MAs and just wanted something a bit more decent than shitty jujitsu (the JJ over here is fucking shite), A friend of mine was doing WingTsun in belfast, was able to pretty much kick the crap out of me at will, searched on the net and it just so happened that Chum Sut was the nearest WC club to me :-D -

Oy vei. Still I´ll keep doing WC - the teacher actually knows his stuff, but he is too damn traditional to allow free sparring, and anyway the WC concepts and techniques are amazing (my MT coach still doesn´t believe the straight punch can pack some decent power, but I, IMHO, know better...).
